What is it about the humble ukulele that people find so appealing? Is it a reaction against the high-tech world that we’re living in? Perhaps we can no longer afford pianos or trombones or maybe we just don’t want to play ‘normal’ instruments anymore. The truth is, the ukulele is for everybody, with no elitist connotations. It’s quick to learn, inexpensive to buy and very portable. So, why not become part of the trend and have a go yourself? We are currently a very friendly group of nine, inexperienced players: in true u3a tradition we are teaching ourselves, helping and learning from each other. You don’t need to buy an instrument initially as we have several good quality spares: we provide music sheets and stands and of course refreshments at half time. If you would like to participate, or would just like to come and see what we do you would be very welcome.
